Discovery : Forget counting sheep, just buy a can of sprayable sleep

For far too long now poor insomniacs have been drinking their way to sleep, whether it’s with sleep aids, warm milk, or something a bit stronger. But now, a new revolution in sleeping technology promises to cut out the middle man that is the human liver and deliver dreamy relief directly to your face.

Soon you’ll be able to spray yourself to sleep with this new remedy called Sprayable Sleep. Sprayable Sleep works by applying the sleep-regulating hormone melatonin directly to the skin, like on your neck, an hour before going to bed. By circumventing the digestive system, the spray promises users faster relief, restful sleep, and no grogginess upon awakening. The initial response from testers has been promising.

The product was created by Ben Yu and Deven Soni at Stanford University last March along with a team of chemists and designers. There’s no word on whether or not the idea originally came to them in a dream, though. After a successful Indiegogo campaign, Sprayable Sleep is finally going into production. Each $15 bottle is good for one month and has 60 sprays. Over 20,000 bottles are currently being manufactured Through their company Sprayable Inc., Yu and Soni have also developed other spray-based medicine. In fact, Sprayable Sleep began as a counterpart to their previous product Sprayable Energy, which uses the same technology to provide instant topical caffeine.

You have to wonder what would happen if you sprayed both on yourself at the same time. Would you explode, or would you achieve absolute balance? There’s only one way to find out for yourself. Check out Sprayable’s online store for more info.
