Tech : (Nigerians needs this) Superhydrophobic paint used to make people pee on themselves in public

Urinating in public. I’m sure we’ve all seen it happen, and in my experience it usually involves a drunk person in desperate need of relief and any old wall looks inviting enough to use. But for everyone else, it stinks, and costs money to clean up. St. Pauli, a quarter in the city of Hamburg, has decided to take action against it, and superhydrophobic paint has come to the rescue.

It’s very difficult to catch a person peeing in public, and even harder to get them to stop once they’ve started. You can try, but not too hard in case they turn their attentions in your direction mid flow. So the local group called St. Pauli’s Community of Interest has declared it’s Peeback Time What they’ve done is to cover public walls typically seen being used for urinating against with a superhydrophobic coating. This stops any liquid from sticking to or being absorbed by the wall, but also bounces it back in the direction it came with more force. The end result is the urine ends up back on the person producing it, either on their legs or pooling under their feet.

It seems unlikely this will deter a drunk person with a full bladder from doing their business. But it may block their entry to another bar if they turn up at the door smelling of well, piss, and sporting soaked trousers. For non-drunks, it should have the desired effect by making them think twice about doing it again.
